Doomed Fordham student’s parents ‘trying to process’ tragedy

The parents of the Fordham University student who plunged to her death from a campus clock tower are “heartbroken” and still “trying to process” what happened, a family friend said Monday.
Sydney Monfries’ mother and father are “holding up” as best they can, but “you can imagine. They’re heartbroken. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to witness,” the unnamed pal told ABC-TV.
“They’re strong. They have a lot of faith. But right now they’re just trying to process this tremendous loss” while being “very appreciate of all the family and friends who’ve come around to support them,” the friend said.
Monfries, a 22-year-old journalism major set to graduate from the elite Bronx school next month, died early Sunday climbing the tower as part of a senior-year ritual in which students sneak into the structure and ascend its spiral staircase to take photos out the highest window.
